This is a 14 days safari holiday itinerary, taking you through major tourist destinations in Kenya and Uganda. This includes the famous Masai Mara National reserve, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli national park, Kibale Forest National Park, Bwindi Forest and Lake Victoria. A mixture of this safari tour and Gorilla trekking in the two countries is created by the fascinating balance between the wildlife, the serene landscapes and the culture surrounding the local people. It is a holiday full of excitement and lifetime experience.

This a 14 days combined safari and Gorilla tour holiday in Kenya and Uganda, that starts and ends in Kampala and ends in Nairobi; the tour begins with a Kampala city excursion, then primates trekking at Kibale forest and Bwindi national park in Uganda. Then cross over to Kenya, where you will continue watching wildlife around Lake Victoria, Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru national park and Amboseli national park. This a popular holiday circuit with opportunity to see thousands of wildlife, the Great wildlife Migration, Gorilla trekking, bird watching and cultural visit.

Day 1: Arrival

On this day, you will be picked from Entebbe airport or on an agreed venue in Kampala, briefed about the safari itinerary and then transferred to Kampala Serena Hotel; on arrival, you will check in, have lunch and a brief rest before going on an afternoon Kampala city tour.

Kampala is the capital city of Uganda, located south-central part of the country and 10 Km north of Lake Victoria; the world’s second largest fresh water lake and the source of the longest river in the world (River Nile). Kampala is a typical modern African city; with the high-rise buildings, major government offices, bustling streets, nice hotels and restaurants, major hospitals, museums and other historical, cultural and traditional attractions.

Day 2-3: Explore Kibale Forest National Park

On this day after breakfast, you will leave the hotel with a packed picnic lunch, head west to Fort Portal; where you will have a brief rest as you admire the fabled mountains of the moon and the beautiful tea plantations. After that you will proceed with the drive to Kibale National Park; on arrival you will be transferred to Kibale Primate Lodge, where you will have a brief rest before heading for a guided night nature walk to watch the bush babies, pottos among other nocturnal wildlife.

Kibale National Park is in Kabarole and Kibaale Districts, approximately 320 km west of Kampala and 35Km south of Fort Portal. It’s the most accessible equatorial rainforest in Uganda and is well known for it's high populated habituated chimpanzees and 12 other different species of primates.

The following day, you will be driven to the park’s head office; where you will assemble in one place for briefing about the park, then begin the nature walk along the rainforest in search of the chimpanzees, the black and white Columbus, velvet and red tailed monkey, and over 350 bird species. In the afternoon, you will leave the lodge, drive further south to Bwindi Forest National Park; on arrival, you will be transferred to Mahogany Springs, where you will spend the rest of the day relaxing and admiring the beautiful landscapes.

Note: This day's event can be re-arranged to include hiking on Rwenzori Mountains

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

On this day after breakfast, you will leave the hotel well dressed for muddy/ rainy conditions and ready for long distance trekking; head to the park's head office for briefing, then start trekking in search of the gorilla, once you spot them; you will spend some time observing them and taking pictures as the tour guide narrates about their way of living, character and behavior. Tracking can take between 2-9 hours depending on the terrain conditions, sometimes it's very tiring and time consuming before encountering gorillas; But it's an unique and unforgettable experience once you spot them.

Bwindi National Park is located southwest of Uganda; The Park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, bordering Democratic Republic of Congo next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the western Great Rift Valley shared by Rukungiri, Kabale and Kisoro Districts; Gorilla trekking, birds watching and other primates are the main activities within the park.

Day 5: Bwindi to Lake Victoria, Kisumu

On this day, you will leave the hotel with a packed picnic lunch, drive through the protected areas of Lake Mburo national park, the Equator, the capital city, Lake Victoria, down to the Kenya – Uganda boarder; where you will clear with the boarder agency, then meet our Kenyan tour guide who will drive you to Imperial Hotel in Kisumu; where you will spend the rest of the day relaxing after the long road drive.

Note: this is approx. 9 hours’ drive, the long drive could be supplemented with a scheduled or chartered flight from Bwindi/Kampala to Kisumu airport.

Day 6: Lake Victoria to Nakuru

On this day after breakfast, you will have a morning Lake excursion taking you through major attraction on the lake; watching different bird species, crocodiles, hippos and other lesser wildlife. After that you will return to the lodge for lunch and a brief rest, then transfer to Lake Nakuru. On arrival, you will have an easy game drive through the park to Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge where you will spend the rest of the day relaxing after the long drive.

Day 7: Tour Lake Nakuru

On this day after breakfast, you will have a morning game drive around the Lake to watch the beautiful lake full of birds, surrounded by huge acacia trees, then drive up to the observation hill, the Rhino sanctuary among other attraction on the Lake. After that you will then return to the lodge for a midday break. In the afternoon you will drive through the park to the Lanet exit gate, where you will check out and proceed to Lake Naivasha; on arrival you will be transferred to Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort along Lake Naivasha; where you will spend the rest of the day either relaxing and enjoying various Spa treats and amenities on offer or playing golf or going on a nature walk.

Day 8: Tour Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, you will have a boat Lake Excursion taking you through major attraction on the lake; watching different bird species, crocodiles, hippos and other lesser wildlife. After that you will return to the lodge for lunch and a brief rest, then transfer to Masai Mara. On arrival, you will have an easy game drive through the park to Mara Intrepids, where you spend the rest of the day on your private balcony relaxing with a cold drink and admiring the beautiful open plains full of wildlife.

Day 9-10: Explore Masai mara

On this day after breakfast, you will leave the lodge with a packed picnic lunch; have a morning game drive, then go for a midday cultural visit to the Masai Villages; where you will have an insight view of the local Masai people and their unique traditional way of living. After that you will head out to a bush picnic lunch, before returning to an evening game drive. Masai Mara is without a doubt one of the top wildlife national parks in Africa, it's home to thousands of wildlife that include all the Big Five’, the famous wildebeest migration, hundreds of bird species and beautiful landscapes.

The following day, you will have a morning game drive; to watch the big Cats as they hunt down prey before the sun is hot and animals go hiding. In the afternoon, you will extend the drive to Mara River to watch the large hippos and crocodiles basking on the river banks.

Day 11: Mara to Amboseli

After breakfast, you will drive through the park to the Talek exit gate, where you will check out and proceed to Amboseli National Park; on the way you will have a lunch stop-over at Nairobi Carnival restaurant, then proceed to Tortilis Safari Camp where you spend the rest of the day relaxing and admiring the stunning views and wildlife from your private balcony.

Amboseli National park lies on the north west of Mt. Kilimanjaro at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, the ecosystem is typical of the open savannah grassland, with the open wooded grasslands, rolling hills, swamps and the outstanding Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is famous for the large herds of elephants, lions, cheetah, hyena, jackal, antelopes and birds species; it’s an ideal destination for wildlife watching tours, nature excursions, photography trips and viewing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 12-13: Tour Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, try to catch a morning peak view of Mt Kilimanjaro, then proceed for a morning game drive through the private conservancy; here you will have the opportunity to see large herds of elephant, baboons, lions, cheetah, black rhino, wildebeest, hippos, gazelles and many others. After that you will return to the lodge for midday break, in the evening you will have a guided nature walk through the park to watch more wildlife.

The following day, you will leave the lodge with packed picnic lunch, have a half day game drive in Amboseli national park, then return to the lodge for lunch before transferring to Nairobi.

Day 14: End of the Safari

On your last day, you will have a morning game drive, then return to the lodge for breakfast and a brief rest before driving back to Nairobi. On arrival, you will be transferred to the airport for your evening return flight.
