Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

This is a 7 days Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu route climbing package, the packages include one day acclimatization, five days climbing and descending, and one day rest in Moshi town. Marangu route is said to be easy and most popular route compared to Umbwe route and Machame Route, it has great views and is ideal for people who are physically fit, either skilled or non-skilled.

Summary

The Marangu route is a less strenuous route and most popular route for mountainous; the hike begins with a one day acclimatization at the base of the mountain, followed by two days hike and a rest day for more acclimatization, then two days hike up to the summit and descending to Mweka camp for a rest before winding up on the seventh day at Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort.

Day 1, Acclimatization Day

On this day, you will be received at Kilimanjaro airport or on an agreed venue in Arusha, briefed about the climb, then driven to Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort; here you will spend the rest of the day acclimatizing and preparing for the five days climb.

Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort is located at Marangu village southeast of Mount Kilimanjaro, a five story hotel, set within a farming region at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro near the Rongai gate; a good place for acclimatization and rest before hiking Kilimnajaro.

Day 2, Marangu Gate (18000m) to Mandara hut (2700m)

On this day after breakfast, you will be driven to Marangu gate (1800m), and then will start hiking through the montane forest, up the steep sections to Mandara hut; where you will spend the rest of the day; relaxing and preparing for next day hike. This day’s hike will take about 5 to 6 hours to get to Mandara hut, which is about 2,700m high.

Day 3, Mandara hut (2700m) to Horombo hut (3720m)

On this day, you will continue with the hike, taking you through the steep ridges, across the heath and moorland, uphill to Horombo hut. This day’s hike will take about 4 to 6 hours to get to Horombo hut, which is about 12 km walk and 3,720m high.

Day 4, Acclimatization Day

On this day, will have a resting day to acclimatize; you may spend your time at the hut relaxing and enjoying the stunning views or explore the small hills around. The acclimatization day is very important as it increases your chances of reaching the summit.

Day 5, Horombo hut (3720m) to Kibo hut (4700m)

On this day, you will continue with the hike, taking you through the Alpine desert, the steep ridges, uphill to Kibo hut. This day’s hike will take about 5 to 6 hours to get to Kibo hut, which is about 9.5 km walk and 4,700m high.

Day 6, Kibo hut (4700m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) back to Horombo hut (3720m)

On this day, will leave the camp at midnight, begin by hiking up and down the slopes, hills and the iced summits; at this point, everyone is excited and anticipating of the toughest summit climb ahead. Then continue up to the Uhuru peak, painted with colors of the African sun; once there you will have the opportunity to capture the stunning sunrise view, the scenic beauty beneath the mountain and the snow-capped peaks.
After that you will descent through Kibo, where will have a brief rest for lunch, then continue to Horombo hut at about 3720m.

Day 7, Horombo hut to Moshi

On this morning after breakfast, you will continue descending for 3-4 hour to the gate, where the tour vehicle will meet you and drive you to Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort; here you will be handed over your climbing certificate, freshen up, have lunch and a brief rest before being transferred to the airport for your evening flight.
