Lake Bogoria is a shallow alkaline lake located along the Great Rift Valley, south of Lake Baringo. The lake has beautiful escapements, swamps, hot spring and a couple of geysers that erupt up to 5m high; Other attraction include bird watching, Lake Excursion in both Lake Baringo and Bogoria.

Lake Bogoria is a saline shallow water lake, situated along the Great Rift Valley in northern parts of Kenya, about 25Km south of Lake Baringo. The lake is part of Lake Bogoria National Park, run by the local county government and is sometimes home to the highest number of the lesser pink flamingos in the world.
The beautiful scenery at Lake Bogoria makes it a unique sight and among the top places to visit in Kenya; in 1892, J.W. Gregory a British geologist categorized Lake Bogoria as one of the most beautiful places in Africa, which is somehow true; with a composition of geysers that raise up to 3m, swamps, thousands of birds, the Tugen and Laikipia escarpments, to the woodland and wildlife.
Besides the pink flamingos, Lake Bogoria is also home to over 450 birds species that are attracted by the lake’s alkaline, this includes; the Little Grebe, Tawny Eagle, Pratincole, Swift, Little Bee-eater, Cape-wigeon, Yellow-billed Stork, African Spoonbill, Augur Buzzard, Gabar Goshawk, Water Dikkop, Great Tit, Starling, Hornbill, Crombec among many others. Other wildlife includes the rare Greater Kudu, buffaloes, zebras, baboons, warthogs, caracal, spotted hyenas, impalas, dik dik among many other small mammals.
There are no hotels and lodges within Lake Bogoria national park, accommodation is only in campsites. There are two main campsites, the Fig Tree and Acacia Campsites, both campsites are situated close to the lake with stunning view of the park. Alternative accommodation can be found just outside the park, include Lake Bogoria Spa Hotel, Papyrus Inn and Kudu Campsite.
Lake Bogoria is just off the Nakuru – Sigor road, 25Km to Lake Baringo, a 2 hours’ drive from Nakuru and 4 hours’ drive from Nairobi, the lake can also be accessed via the Mogotio route. By air, there is a small airstrip for helicopters and chartered flights.
