The Samburu cultural visit
Samburu National Reserve is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the dry northern parts of Kenya, on a landscape that combines the semi-arid desert, the green grassland, hills, riveline forest and swamps. The park attracts most wildlife because of the Ewaso Nyiro River that runs through the park providing food, water and shelter (from the acacia trees that grow along the river).
Wild animals at Samburu National Reserve includes; the rare Samburu Big 5 (the Grevy's zebra, the long-necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe, the besia oryx and the Somali ostrich), cheetah, leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra, bushbuck, bush pig, Gerenuk, crocodiles, hippos and many more; It’s also the home of Kamunyak lioness (the lioness famous for adopting Oryx calves).
Apart from the wonderful landscapes and wildlife at Samburu National reserve, the local Samburu people have an outstanding culture that they usually share to guest who visits their villages.
Activities within Samburu National Reserve are centered on day and night game watching; other activities would include camping safari activities, cultural visit tours, hot air balloon flight, nature walks, bush breakfast, lunch and dinners, seminars and corporate retreats, educational trips and relaxation.
