Galdessa Safari Camp is a beautiful simplified African safari camp, owned and run by an Italian family. It is strategically set along the river banks under doum palms overlooking the Galana River and the Yatta Plateau. It’s a small very private Eco camp with a mixture of safari and coastal atmosphere, a great place for guest wishing to enjoy their safari while staying on a nicely secluded area.

Galdessa Camp is a high end safari camp located along Galana River at Tsavo East national park, the camp is divided in two parts (Galdessa main Camp and Galdessa Private Camp). The main Galdessa Camp has 12 comfortable, spacious thatched and semi-tented bungalows. And Galdessa Private Camp is a short distance away from the main camp with just 3 very exclusive thatched bungalows. Both the camps are beautifully designed with high thatched roof, natural wood and nicely decorated with earthly colors to blend well with the surrounding environment.
The rooms in both camps are very comfortable, nicely spaced for privacy and uniquely decorated to details; each room has a king/queen size bed, a mosquito net, an en-suite bathroom, a private veranda, a dressing area, a private lounge area. The private camp, rooms have additional dining room, sitting/lounge area and the guest get additional privileges to plan their day as they wish.
Meals at Galdessa Safari Camp are nicely prepared from locally fresh organic products and spices, the menu combines African and western cuisines. The meals are served at the main restaurant/dining area, at your private veranda or on a private nicely set candle lite bush table (on request).
Facilities at Galdessa Camp would include a central building with a lobby area, a bar and a large comfortable lounge area; family and honeymoon rooms, comfortable private veranda overlooking the river among other luxury amenities. Additional services include laundry and baby-sitting services.
Activities include morning and evening game drives at Tsvavo east national park (the park is home to over 50 black Rhino, elephants, lions among other wild animals), guided nature and safari walks along the Galana River and sand rivers; sun-downers and bush breakfasts.
The best and easiest way to get to Galdessa Camp is flying to Lugard’s airstrip then a 15 minutes’ drive to the Camp, there are chartered flights from Nairobi, Mombasa or Malindi. By road is approximately 3½ hours’ drive from either Nairobi or Mombasa.
Other attractions near Galdessa Safari Camp would include going on a safari to the neighboring Tsavo West national park (that includes tour of the Mzima springs to watch hippos and crocodiles), Amboseli national park and Chyulu Hills. If time permits, you can extend your drive to Mombasa or Diani for a day or two on the beach.
Galdessa Safari Camp is located in the middle of a very remote area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advised to buy all your essential items in major towns before traveling to the Camp.
