Olduvai Camp is a classic safari camp located in a remote area within Ngorongoro conservation area, on the south edge of Serengeti National Park. It’s a relatively simple and very comfortable safari camp with just 17 tents situated on a kopje; a large rock rounded by granite boulders overlooking the open plains that attracts a huge number of wildlife including the great migration, it’s a lovely retreat for guests who appreciate remoteness and gentle nature walks.

Olduvai Camp is beautifully safari camp perched on kopje half-way between the Ngorongoro Crater rim and Ndutu within the Ngorongoro conservation area; it’s a simple authentic camp owned and run by the local Masai people. The camp is nicely designed to give the feeling of an old-fashioned forest camp with the high canvas and thatched roof tents, spacious rooms with wide open windows and classic African furniture/artifacts.
Accommodation at Olduvai Camp is in 17 separate tents, each with a superb views from the verandah of the surrounding savannah dry-lands, a tree-lined shallow valley and the spectacular Ngorongoro Highlands and mountains; all the tents are nicely decorated and furnished with a single/double bed with a mosquito net, own bathroom, a dressing area and a private verandah among other hotel amenities.
Meals at Olduvai Camp are prepared from locally fresh products and spices, the menu combines African and western cuisines with additional fun dishes for kids. The meals are served at the dining area or at your private verandah or on a private nicely set candle lite bush table (on special request).
Additional hotel facilities at Olduvai Camp include a dining area, a bar and lounge area, miles of wilderness to explore and a camp fire area. Additional services include airstrip transfer, laundry and baby-sitting services (on special request).
Activities at Olduvai Camp include guided day game watching trips to Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater, nature walks and cultural tour to the Masai villages, star gazing, sun-downers candle lit dinners, campfire entertainment and bird watching.
Olduvai Camp is located about 180Km from Arusha town, 28Km to Ngorongoro Crater, 35Km to Serenget Naabi gate and 8Km to Olduvai Gorge. It’s about 3 -4 hours’ drive from Arusha town and 45 minutes flight to Ngorongoro and a short drive to the Camp.
Olduvai Camp is located in the middle of a very remote area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advised to buy all your essential items in major towns before traveling to Serengeti Olduvai Camp.
