Ndutu Safari Lodge is a classic safari lodge situated within Ngorongoro Conservation Area, on the southern edge of Serengeti National Park, overlooking Lake Ndutu; it’s a simple but stylish lodge that has slowly over the years evolved from canvas to stone and thatch roof. The lodge is a favorite place for professional wildlife photographers, film-makers and guest trucking down the great migration (December to April).

Ndutu safari lodge is beautifully nestled under giant acacia trees, overlooking Lake Ndutu; the Lodge was first established by George Dove – a professional hunter who later gave up hunting and set up a campsite, the ownership later changed and a lot has changed; from the canvas tented camp to stone and African thatched roofed lodge. Today it’s simply one of the best places to watch wildlife, especially during the great migration.
There are 34 stone-and-thatch cottages at Ndutu Safari Lodge, all built fairly close together in a long line that extends either side of the central bar/restaurant area, and all with a view of the soda lake, Lake Ndutu. Each room has its own small veranda, where you can sit and watch the wildlife pass by.
Ndutu Safari Lodge consists of 34 stone and thatched cottages that are built fairly close together in a long line that extends either side of the central bar/restaurant area. All the cottages are beautifully with an African theme and furnished with a Single/double/triple beds, a mosquito net, own bathroom, a dressing area and a private verandah among other hotel amenities.
Meals at Ndutu Safari Lodge are prepared from locally fresh products and spices, the menu combines African and western cuisines with additional fun dishes for kids. The meals are served at the dining area or at your private verandah or on a private nicely set candle lite bush table (on special request).
Additional hotel facilities at Ndutu Safari Lodge include a dining area, a bar, a restaurant and lounge area, miles of wilderness to explore and a camp fire area. Additional services include airstrip transfer, laundry and baby-sitting services (on special request). Note: - all cottages are accessible by wheel chairs.
Activities at Ndutu Safari Lodge include guided day game watching trips to Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater, nature walks and cultural tour to the Masai villages, star gazing, sun-downers candle lit dinners, campfire entertainment and bird watching.
Ndutu Safari Lodge is about 260Km from Arusha town, it takes about 4 hours by road and 50 minutes by flight to the nearby Ndutu airstrip. There are daily scheduled flights from Arusha to the Ndutu airstrip; other airstrips in the vicinity are Seronera and Manyara.
Ndutu Safari Lodge is located in the middle of a very remote area; there are no modern shops or market places nearby; so it’s advised to buy all your essential items in major towns before traveling to Ndutu Safari Lodge.
